How to Change Course in Australia

If you’re a student in Australia and want to change course, you must first get permission from your existing institution. Then, you must apply for a new course and complete the transfer process. Most educational institutions in Australia have documented transfer policies. Be sure to read and understand these policies and the written agreement you sign with the institution.

Students with student visas can change course Australia as long as the new course is of the same level or lower. You can also change your course from one level to another and vice versa. The only exception to this rule is if you’re changing from a PhD to a master’s course. Other exceptions include if you’re going to package two or more courses, as long as there’s a clear progression between courses.

Most Australian universities allow students to change courses before the start of the new term. However, if you decide to change your course once in Australia, you should remember that you’ll have to pay the full cost of the new course and institution. If you’re an international student, the fees for changing courses are much lower. In addition, if you’re changing within the same institution, you may have to pay an application fee.

Change course rules in Australia are regulated by the Department of Home Affairs. The new course rules are set to come into effect in July 2022. Until then, international students in Australia with an Australia Study Visa (Subclass 500) will not be able to change courses in Australia without the Minister’s approval. The best way to avoid this problem is to take your time and get your visa approved beforehand.

You must be able to show that you’re changing your course. If you are changing course, make sure you have a letter from the new institution confirming your valid enrolment offer. Once you’ve notified your education provider, the Department of Home Affairs will update your ImmiAccount to reflect your new study situation. Then, you’ll need to apply for a new student visa.

Before you decide on a new course, be sure to research it thoroughly. You can even talk to other students and your student advisor to find out what you can expect. You must also consider your finances. You might have to pay a tuition fee or find accommodation depending on where you’re going. Then, you must find out whether you’ll be able to pay the additional costs.
